Yet another rant about Orson Scott Card.
And now it's my turn. Again.
Mormon beliefs are pernicious precisely because of this tendency to cover up and deny. LDSers are every bit as prone to the usual social ills as everyone else, they just work harder to con themselves and everyone else. I'm absolutely convinced that Mormonism is a terrible, outdated and slimy excuse for a "belief system". It practically glorifies censorship and secrecy and Mafia-like behaviour, not to mention misogyny. Mr. Card's books are just one minor outward sign of it.
It's evident to me that Card's manly crypto-fascist books correspond to the crypto-fascist SF and
fantasy books written by other right-wing bastards like Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle and David Weber. They resonate with the same kind of juvenilistic, pissed-off man-boy who often ends up in his parents' basement, obsessing over Tolkien or Doctor Who. (Or, for that matter, becoming a Wikipedia administrator.) Guys who can't get laid, and who often become very fond of torture-bondage porn because they can't get laid. Is it surprising they often become misanthropic misogynists? Is it surprising they also become huge fans of hentai anime, with plenty of woman-abuse and girl-abuse?
I'd still like to know when the s
cience-fiction community is going to get sick of Card and can his tight little ass. Not as if they haven't had plenty of warning.
BTW, there's now a self-described "right-wing SF blog": Republibot.
Funny, precisely because it's terrible.
Sonoma is such a friendly little town. They even give out free enemas.
If your blog isn't "meta" enough, try something that's so "meta", it doesn't know it's "meta". Blackboards In Porn.
And if that's not disgusting enough, what about this?

4 snappy comebacks:
The uberpappy of crytofascist SF? None other than Robert Heinlein. Spinrad's old parody "The Iron Dream" should be read by these dweebs and NOT TOLD it's satire...
Wow, dude. This sounds kind of autobiographical: "They resonate with the same kind of juvenilistic, pissed-off man-boy who often ends up in his parents' basement, obsessing over Tolkien or Doctor Who. (Or, for that matter, becoming a Wikipedia administrator.) Guys who can't get laid, and who often become very fond of torture-bondage porn because they can't get laid. That's "cryptofascist"- sorry.
My butt itches.
